You don’t have to Vacation to see an Art Gallery Anymore

Galleries that were once the domain of the privileged few have had their doors thrown open to anyone lucky enough to explore them on the internet.

By using the internet you can explore very small private galleries, where an artist might get to show their work, because an artist’s dream is for someone to love their art…anyone. They bare their soles as they plaster, sculpt, paint, draw, or whatever medium they choose to use to be an artist. But up until the advent of the internet they often went unexposed. Now, however, an artist can create their own gallery, on their own website. And then the patronage is up to the individual doing the surfing.

The internet has smashed down the doors of renowned galleries the world over; Galleries like the New York Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art or the National Gallery in London can now be readily explored via the internet. Even though most major galleries have free admission, a country boy or girl would have to go on vacation to visit them. The internet has changed all that, just as it has changed an artist’s ability to expose their art to a viewing patronage. Many galleries in the past, seemed like the art that was in them had been sequestered away and was only for the eyes of those who could afford to go see it, but now, they are wide open and ready to inspire.

There are a multitude of galleries in our world today, just as there are a multitude of artists to fill them. One very good place to explore on the net is: artnet.com. On this site there are more art galleries offered than you will have time to visit. So if you want a chance to get some quality time with a child, this is your opportunity. Sit down at a computer at home, or at your local school, or a library and visit some of the major gallery’s websites; places where you can explore the history of artists considered the “Masters,” or the various genres of art, because you’ll never know until you try it, what kind of a creative influence it may have on the youngster, or even you--a crusty, old, set in your ways adult.
